Description Delivery Information
Classic Italian variety is an excellent, all-around tomato for paste, puree, or canning. Prized for its firm pulp, low seed count and easily removed skin, and for producing a rich tomato flavor when cooked down. Medium-sized fruits are slightly larger than Roma but smaller than Gilbertie or Amish and average 4 oz. Resists cracking and holds well both on the vine and in storage. Heavy yields. Indeterminate. Days to maturity: 80
Tomatoes love hot days and cool nights. For the best tomato harvest:

Growing conditions
  • Fertile, well-drained soil
  • Soil pH of 6.0-6.8
  • Moderate to high levels of potassium (P) and potash (K)
  • Transplant when daytime temperatures reach 70F and night time temperatures are above 55F
  • Average spacing: 12-18" between plants in rows 36-48" apart.
  • For storage and shipping, harvest when the blossom end turns pink.
  • For fresh market harvest when color develops but fruits are still firm.
  • Store ripe tomatoes at 45-50F and 90-95% relative humidity.
  • Hold mature-green tomatoes for ripening at 65-70F.
Pest and Disease Prevention
  • Avoid overhead irrigation
  • Practice crop rotations with all Solanceae species
  • Staking and orienting rows to increase air circulation can aid in disease prevention.
  • Deep, infrequent watering encourages deep rooting and higher quality fruit production
  • Indeterminate varieties should be staked, caged, or trellised to obtain best yields and to prevent disease
