Description

The Kitchen Maid is inspired by my love of Victorian period dramas. Her base is an old cheese grater, found by our Ms. Annie in a church thrift. shop during her last visit to NYC.

She is dressed in a skirt made of celosia with two gomphrena 'Fireworks' accents, a pink and white yarrow shirt with tansy 'buttons', and carries a Ammi 'Queen Ann's Lace' broom. A hydrangea represents her head.

I challenged myself to create this piece without binding bunches of flowers together or using glue and inserting each flower individually. I almost made it, except for the two round gomphrena accents on her skirt. These are attached to the celosia (not the grater) with a tiny dot of glue. So technically if you had an emergency need for a cheese grater, you could disassemble this piece and make it functional again!

The picture of this piece really doesn't to it justice. My next challenge is to get better at photography!

Handmade and unique, one-of-a-kind design. Free-standing or can be mounted on a wall.

All natural, dried plant material grown, harvested and dried at Windcrest Farm.
