LEARN, DESIGN, GROW & CREATE!

GARDEN SKILLS SERIES

We welcome all age groups! Please contact us to register for a class or arrange for private farm events.
From our students:

"
Over the last decade my family and I have participated in several workshops at Windcrest. No matter what the topic, Mary and team make sure everyone is comfortable, included and welcomed for a great small group interactive experience. Only the best supplies are provided and most importantly you are confident you are set up for success when the workshop is over. Actually the workshop continues because you can email Mary or talk with her at the farm with follow- up questions. Simply the best!"
-Suzanne L.

Dried Flower Arrangement Workshop - So much fun! Plenty of dried flowers and choices of what kind of arrangement could be made. Instructions were clear and help was was needed as an add need basis.
-Pam M.

Fun Saturday - What a wonderful experience! This family working farm is amazing. I learned so much feeling very welcomed and at home walking through the flowering beds. You can not get a more personal experience of cutting your own flowers, arranging them while enjoying delicious homemade food from the gardens! I will go back many many times! - Glenna B.

From Your Instructor: Mary Roberts, The Second Season Farmer

"
When I sell a plant, I want that plant to thrive, mature and fulfill its greatest potential. To do that, I want the gardener who takes my plants to have all the resources and support they need to ensure they (the plant and the gardener!) can fulfill their potential."

I have made a living (i.e., paid the bills and well as enjoyed my days) by growing plants for over 18 years. Vegetable, herb, fruit and flower plants are the main focus, but give me the challenge of growing something unique and challenging to grow, and I'm there! (You should see my succulent, medicinal and tropical plant collection!)

I grow plants for home and market gardeners as well as for other farmers. I also grow plants for our own farm market produce, herb, flower and production at Windcrest farm.

The plants I sell are carefully raised from seed or from selectively gathered and tended cutting from one of our "mother" plants. They are all USDA Certified Organic.

It can be a long process (with lots of paperwork), but it is certainly a labor of love for me.

When I sell a plant, I want that plant to thrive, mature and fulfill its greatest potential. To do that, I want the gardener who takes my plants to have all the resources and support they need to ensure they (the plant and the gardener!) can fulfill their potential.

For sixteen years, providing support and information to gardeners has meant countless conversations in my booth at the farmers market, as well as emails, classes, workshops, speaker events, newsletters, and consultations.

My hope is to provide even more gardening support to new, not-so-new and experienced gardeners. As every garden is unique, so is every gardener. Once we learn, and strengthen the foundation, we can grow with amazing results.
